Book Club

Our April book club is starting on Wednesday, April 15th from 2:00-3:00 PST. We will meet for four Wednesdays to discuss the book Motivational Interviewing in Schools: Conversations to Improve Behavior and Learning by Rollnick, Kaplan & Rutschman. If you are interested in joining us, click HERE to register yourself. It is FREE. Once registered, please take a look at the information about purchasing the book since Amazon is taking longer than usual to get books to us.

What I am Reading

In addition to reading for book clubs, I thought I would share information about additional books I am reading. I am signed up for Dr. Dehn’s Memory Interventionist Training that began earlier this week (click HERE for more information about this). One of the books we are reading is his book Essentials of Working Memory Assessment and Intervention.

I love when I learn new things by chapter 2! Some “factor analytic studies have found WM [working memory] to have the highest correlation (.93) with g, supplanting fluid reasoning as the primary, first-order factor…Some advocates of the WM construct…have argued that WM is a better predictor of academic learning than is full-scale IQ” (pg. 27).

WOW! While I have always been a big fan of assessing working memory when I have students I am considering the classification of SLD, I am going to make sure this is ALWAYS examined.

Summer Boot Camp for Newer School Psychologists

I am working on creating content for a FREE summer boot camp for newer school psychologists. This will run in June and July 2020 with the intention of providing strategies and resources to help prepare you for the upcoming school year.

I need your help! I would love to know from you what you would want in this boot camp. If you are interested, click HERE and complete a quick survey to share with me your ideas. I thank you in advance for your time.
